WWF News - Sun, August 05, 2001

Chris Jericho and Rhyno will be starting a feud in the coming weeks. The WWF had leaned towards a Jericho-Kanyon feud but felt they should better establish Kanyon so that when he reaches the level of Chris Jericho as far as fan base or fan hatred goes, it would be more sufficient both for himself and the company. Rhyno is someone the WWF continues to be more and more pleased with and the feeling is he can now finally get some microphone time to establish his out-of-ring personality. While in ECW, Rhyno had excellent promos and the WWF has yet to exploit that talent on their television.

While on the subject of developing personalities, the new WWF show scheduled for Saturday nights will be used to better establish characters personalities. As well as recap the events that transpired during the live WWF shows (RAW & SmackDown) and will be used to try and better promote the WWF's "untelevised live events" or house shows.

Rey Mysterio, Jr. is scheduled for a meeting with Jim Ross in Los Angeles, CA. next week. If he and the WWF reach a deal, don't look for Rey to have a massive introduction to the company. The WWF is again thinking of bringing back the Lightweight/Crusierweight division in full-force and need as much talent as possible to prevent it from flopping as it has done so many times in the past. Aside from Rey JR., Scott Steiner is expected to begin negotiations with the WWF upon his injuries heeling 100%. There is no time-frame on when that will be, but is foreshadowed to take place in a few months.

Triple H won't be flying with the WWF and hanging backstage anymore due to it effecting his rehabilitation progress. Chris Benoit, however, will be traveling with the WWF a bit down the road as he heels from his neck surgery.
